Kristin Gallegos x So It Goes: Coco Baudelle

Kristin Gallegos x So It Goes: Coco Baudelle

Growing up in Canada to a French mother and Madagascan father, Coco Baudelle (@cocobaudelle) originally went to school to be a lawyer. It didn't take long, however for her to realize that she wasn't passionate about law and decided to move to New York City to pursue her dream of becoming an actress. Not only is the fresh faced model talented in front of the camera but her artistic endeavors extend to drawing as well - having had a piece of hers featured at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts when she was only four years old, she doesn't plan on stopping any time soon.

Where do you currently live?

East Village, NYC.

Where are you originally from?

Montreal, Canada.

What do you do?

Right now? Eating nuts at the Bowery Hotel. Acting and modelling, too.

Any upcoming projects?

I'm trying to pitch a film idea to a producer I met in LA a couple months ago. Also, I just moved here, so I'm still figuring out where the celebrities live, whether or not people get fines for jaywalking, and where to get my hair cut.

What is your idea of perfect happiness?

Being in love for the rest of my life.

What is your greatest fear?

To never meet Morgan Freeman.

Which historical figure do you most identify with?

Marie Curie was a nerd. I created a robot club in college. We would have been pals.

Which living person do you most admire?

Tennessee Thomas. She has this radical shop called The Deep End Club on 1st Ave and 10th street. She throws flower power parties, fights for women's rights and looks like a 60's teen. She is the sweetest girl, has pretty kickass friends and just started a rock band. She just rules.

What is the trait you most deplore in yourself?

Not having a band, not throwing flower power parties, not being the only 10 you see.

What is the trait you most deplore in others?

Abuse of power.

What is your greatest extravagance?

I wear robes as dresses all the time. All kinds of different ones. People stop me on the street to tell me I've got balls. I guess it's kind of badass.

What is your favorite journey?

My lover and I just went on a desert road trip from New Mexico to Palm Springs. We spent a night in a haunted hotel in Jerome, Arizona, listened to Neil Young, drank lots of cheap motel drip coffee and looked for evidence of alien life in Roswell. Ace!

What do you consider the most overrated virtue?

On what occasion do you lie?

When they have me taste a wine at a restaurant, and I give my glass a good swirl and take a good sniff. I'm a fucking lie. I don't know a thing about wine tasting.

What do you dislike the most about your appearance?

That I only have four freckles, that only last about 5 days, once a year, after getting the worst sunburn.

Which living person do you most despise?

No one.

Which words or phrases do you most overuse?

What is your greatest regret?

I wish I bought one of those fake fake Banksy pieces they were selling one day in Central Park, instead of going to the zoo a couple feet away. The zoo was pretty fun though. $100,000 worth of fun.

What or who is the greatest love of your life?

When and where were you happiest?

The first time I went to Hollywood.

Which talent would you most like to have?

Being able to read people's minds like Mel Gibson in "What Women Want".

What is your current state of mind?

Wondering if I'm hungry or not, happy.

If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

I wish I kept a journal as a teen and wrote about my crushes. There were so many good ones. Like Torres, the Spanish football player. I'd sit on the grass with my lunch every Friday and watch him play. One day, I guess word on the street I had a crush on him. In the middle of the game, he was all sweaty, and he turned around facing me and ripped his shirt off. Best Friday ever.

If you could change one thing about your family, what would it be?

My dad would be a little bit more black so I could be a little bit more brown and always looks like my buns were just sizzling on some French beach. Also, my fish wouldn't always die.

What do you consider your greatest achievement?

Moving to New York.

If you were to die and come back as a person or thing, what do you think it would be?

Everyone doesn't need a comeback.

What is your most treasured possession?

Something awesome I didn't really steal but belongs to someone who I'm afraid ends up reading this. Yes, I'll give it back.

What do you regard as the lowest depth of misery?

Thinking about all the possible answers here.

Where would you like to live?

Palm Springs, for a couple of months.

What is your favorite occupation?

What is your most marked characteristic?

I can tie a knot in a cherry stem.

What is the quality you most like in a man?

What is the quality you most like in a woman?

The ability to appreciate other women's qualities.

What do you most value in your friends?

Their ability to do cool things I can't do so I can learn for free.

Who are your favorite writers?

Bukowski. He's amazing at writing about beer and making you feel like you and your lack of inspiration, talent or beauty really matter.

Who is your favorite hero of fiction?

My mom's father.

Who are your heroes in real life?

My 4'9" super, for fixing my overflowing toilet. That was the scariest moment ever, and he crushed it.

What is it that you most dislike?

Being splashed by a bus, and then photographed by Asian tourists.

How would you like to die?

Peacefully, when I'm very old, after swimming in a pool of spaghetti and meatballs.

Your favorite painter?

John Currin. He paints soft voluptuous nude portraits of the modern girl next door like those enormous angel paintings of the Renaissance, with the innocence of an old man asking a pretty flight attendant for the newspaper.

Your favorite musician?

My family, when they sing me "Happy Birthday".

What is your favorite color?

Whatever color happens at 7pm on a summer day.

What is your favorite flower?

Daisies and peach roses in the wild.

What natural gift would you most like to possess?

What do you mean? Like making the sun shine? I'd like to be able to walk in between rain drops. That would be so convenient.

What is your present state of mind?

Definitely hungry, still happy.

What is your motto?

Get tough or die.
