If You Leave are the creative collective responsible collating the ephemeral chapter artwork in So It Goes Issue 3. From their beginnings as a carefully curated Tumblr to a series of beautifully printed volumes, If You Leave has become one of the most influential online photography galleries, showcasing the work of more than 500 contemporary photographers from forty-four countries over six continents. Now, If You Leave have taken up the challenge of supporting emerging photographic talent, by way of an international showcase.
The If You Leave Showcase will be curated from an open call for submissions from artists across the world. Images that interpret IYL’s wistful aesthetic can be submitted via Facebook or Flickr until July 8th. Twenty submissions will be chosen, from which three photographers will receive prizes ranging from photographic supplies to a full feature in If You Leave’s new publication.
If You Leave Showcase bypasses the typical competition entry fee for young artists, instead turning to Kickstarter for donations to fund the physical exhibition and magazine. The exhibition will display twenty winning images around east London locations, accompanied by an App to guide you through the artwork and the artists responsible. If You Leave are launching a publication to accompany the showcase, a new biannual photography magazine – with features, interviews, reviews, short stories and photography commissions.
So It Goes are thrilled to be participating in the showcase jury alongside experts ranging from Dazed to Lomography. The If You Leave Showcase is certain to discover and support a trove of untapped photographic talent and hopefully spread the reach of that support worldwide.
