Blake LDN has the first and last word in homegrown London knitwear for cool girls. Founded in 2012 by Alice Ashby, Central Saint Martins graduate and knit designer for NYC it-brand rag & bone, Blake sits firmly in a select clutch of young London brands with a balance between classic design values and modern aesthetic vision.
Blake succeeds in marrying contemporary design in the form of chunky, oversized threads or cutout keyhole necklines, with traditional manufacture and sustainably sourced materials. A focus on provenance ensures that each piece makes a short journey through the hands of like-minded craftsmen.
As to be expected from an alumna of CSM and rag & bone, Ashby’s vision for the brand extends beyond the product, and each season sees a lookbook of inevitable
So It Goes’ own creative director James Wright shot Blake’s SS 13 lookbook in Goa, while this season sees the Blake girl take to the streets of East London in the most insouciant of chunky socks and birks to pair with her knits. Online, the brand explores London through the eyes of Blake Women on their blog, as well as spotlighting designer Alice’s personal take on styling her favourite pieces.
Blake LDN’s classic knit collections are stocked internationally in Colette Paris, online at Net-A-Porter and Reve En Vert, and at home in London at Viola.
